The last week of September will be very different to this past week, which has seen almost summer-like conditions, bringing heavy rains and a drop in temperatures.
Spain’s State Meteorological Agency Aemet has forecast a significant change in the weather this week which could bring showers, thunderstorms and even hail storms to certain parts of the country.

This Monday September 28th, there are weather warnings for rain and thunderstorms in Andalusia, Aragón, Asturias, Cantabria, Castilla y León, Castilla-La Mancha, Catalonia, Extremadura, Galicia, Navarre, the Basque Country, and Valencia. The autonomous city of Ceuta is also under warning. Rainfall of up to 15 millimetres per hour are expected.

Orange warnings for rain and thunderstorms are in place in much of Extremadura, while yellow warnings have been issued for much of Castilla-La Mancha and Aragón. There are also yellow warnings in Málaga province, parts of Cantabria and the Basque Country.
Lighter rain is expected along the Mediterranean coast, the Balearic Islands and Galicia.
The Canary Islands will also see rain in mountainous areas, as well as calima or haze from sand or dust.

A drop in temperatures has also been forecast for most of the country. Maximum temperatures will fall significantly, particularly in Andalusia and areas within central Spain.
The mercury is not expected to reach 30C anywhere this week, and in some provinces temperatures will fall below 25C, according to Aemet.
Rain and cooler temperatures will continue on Tuesday, September 29th, but different areas will be affected.
Almost the whole of Catalonia will be under an orange warning for torrential rains, storms and even hail, while yellow warnings will be in place in Aragón and inland Valencia. Galicia will also have yellow warning for high winds in coastal areas.
Towards the middle of the week, conditions are expected to stabilise and no more warnings have been issued for Wednesday or the rest of the week, so far.
